Candace/Argument: Clayton State University's website
is filled with information that can aid the future student in choosing CSU as
his or her university. With so many resources available on the site, one barely
knows where to start. Luckily, the homepage has a banner that is filled with
clips of what the university considers its top stories. I started at
clayton.edu to find a picture that encompasses what my school represents. It
was not a difficult task. One of the first pictures on the banner is from a
recent graduation. In this picture the graduates are excited about their
accomplishments and are gathered among each other celebrating. This picture is
doing more than stating the obvious. We already know that if you complete the
required courses for your major, graduation from the program will follow.
However, after taking a second look, the picture reveals a lot about CSU.
Clayton State University welcomes students of any age, gender, and race. The
diversity of the everyday classroom setting or the overall diversity of the
campus is right there in this picture. That picture represents CSU. CSU
encourages students to excel to the next level regardless of age, gender, and
race.
Skyler/Response: I agree that the graduation picture makes a strong statement as to what Clayton State represents. Graduating is a part of mostly every college student's experience. The fact that all of the students in the picture are enjoying their time to shine sends the positive message that graduating college is not only a milestone but an accomplishment that will help you succeed later in life. I also agree with the argument that the picture shows the diversity of races, genders, and ages among the population of students and faculty that Clayton State offers. When coming to Clayton State, you are not only getting a beautiful campus and college education, you are also getting the chance to embrace other cultures and accept the differences that all people have. The argument made is sound; the picture is a clear representation of Clayton State University.
